What I am wearing: red knit beanie, silver owl pendant, Dooney and Bourke inspired handbag, black cardigan, black long-sleeved shirt, red pencil skirt from American Apparel, black tights and black lace-up boots.
This outfit is dedicated to the colour red, which was a trending topic on Twitter today. It is being used to promote charities for World AIDS Day, which is a good cause and enough reason to love the colour.
Aside from that, red is a colour I am obsessed about. It is a colour that makes me happy.
My mum recently got back from Houston. The necklace, beanie and handbag are all gifts from my family over the ocean — I am very stoked with all my presents! And of course, I am also grateful for my family’s good taste.
On a final note, I have to plug American Apparel for the skirt I am wearing.
It is possibly the most versatile piece of clothing I own. It can be worn as a mini-dress, a short skirt or a waist high skirt. It can be layered with a t-shirt, long-sleeved shirt, vest or buttoned blouse. It can be belted or worn plain.
It can be dressed up and dressed down. It can be worn in summer and in winter. The material is super comfortable, good quality, stretchy and fitted without emphasizing lumps and bumps. It does not look worn out after the first wash and the colour does not fade.
One day I will buy it in every colour. Then I will open a shrine where people can flock and worship the god of all skirts.
Sorry, you don’t dress soft enough. The top above combined with the beret is overpowering your outfit. Toss the hat. It really makes your head look egg shaped. Remember less is best. A soft blouse with a ruffled front would be nice or blouses with a v-front instead of round. Try nice bright colored tops with a necklace. That bag is way too big for you but the style is nice. The high heels are fabulous but not with the super dark tights that look like they are wrinkled at the ankles. Try a pattern with a texture. Get contacts instead of glasses and I bet you are much prettier when you smile (try it).
You have a nice face but your hairstyle makes you look to manish. Try a style cut to the shoulders with soft curls and soft caramel streaks around your face to brighten your look. Then just add a nice soft pink lip gloss and mascara and you can be a knockout.
Hi Clara. I haven’t seen you around before. Where did you come from?
Softness is not something I do well, particularly in winter — I run very cold. I have heaps of layers on here, hence the rumpled ankles. My summer wardrobe is lighter, naturally. I also had similar sentiments about the hat. With longer hair it will take on a better shape, as it will not be the only thing framing my face.
I haven’t considered v-necks. Unfortunately I cannot afford new clothes, but perhaps all I’ll need is a few inexpensive shirts to mix and match. I am also very versed in the art of smiling (no need to try, I do) ;) My expression is just for consistency. I like consistency when documenting — call it a knock on effect from my academic mindset.
The hair has always been an issue. I do not like fuss. Growing it causes fuss. Lately I have been patient, but the painstakingly slow growth is making me reconsider. Ironically, when my hair is long it is quite voluminous and wavy.
You are welcome to continue commenting Clara, but you may find me obstinate and frustrating to critique. I concede to external influences, but most changes in how I dress will come from myself. How I relate to clothing is changing all the time. I realise I could be a knockout, but with the confidence I gain from the people closest to me, I already feel like one :) This blog is supplementary to that.
